FAQs

Do you take insurance?

I do not take insurance for Psychotherapy/Counseling and Insurance does not cover coaching, organizational consulting, or clinical training services. Please inquire for rates based on the service you are interested in.

Do we have to meet in person?

Nope! In fact, my psychotherapy and coaching services are 100% virtual. Consulting and training services can be virtual but may be in-person based on your focus and the needs of your group. I usually recommend that training services be in person as this is most engaging to the group.

I offer coaching, consulting, and training services on an international scale. If your needs can be met via virtual meetings, we can move forward with your services, no matter where you are in the world. There are some limitations to virtual work for consulting services, but we can discuss your needs in a consultation call to determine whether long-distance services are the best fit for you or your organization. I am also available to travel to your organization in many circumstances.

Psychotherapy services are limited to California due to licensure requirements and restrictions.

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?

Psychotherapy is a process though which a mental illness or emotional concern is addressed through a variety of treatments aimed at fostering insight and shifting thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

Coaching is a collaboration between a coach and a client in a thought-provoking process that focuses on helping you maximize your personal and/or professional potential. The process involves identifying goals and challenges, and taking steps toward making changes in your life.

Coaching is not psychotherapy and does not substitute for psychotherapy if needed. Coaching does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental disorders as defined by the American Psychiatric Association and coaching is not to be used as a substitute for counseling, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, mental health care, substance abuse treatment, or other professional advice by legal, medical or other qualified professionals.

During a consultation meeting, we will discuss what you are looking for and determine whether coaching or psychotherapy is the better fit given your needs and goals.

Are you the right psychotherapist, coach, or consultant for me?

This is an important question. You should always feel safe and non-judged with a psychotherapist, coach, consultant, or trainer. This work is a collaborative process. I work with clients who are motivated to put in the effort it takes to create lasting change. I take a strengths-based approach to our work together, meaning we will take time to recognize your unique skills and values and then identify how you can use them to get to where you want to go. That said, I will also be sure to challenge you when behaviors or thought patterns are getting in the way of you achieving your goals. We will work well together if you are ready for change and committed to doing the work both during our psychotherapy, coaching or consulting sessions and in-between. Before getting started, we will meet for a free consultation call so that I can hear about your goals and you can get a sense of what I offer, and whether we are a good fit.
