Welcome. You’ve taken an important step by beginning your search for a therapist who will support you as you heal. This demonstrates that you are committed to getting back to the parts of yourself that you miss the most. If you have been struggling with your mental health and you recognize yourself in some of the following concerns, psychotherapy can help:
Anxiety, panic, racing thoughts, and constant worry
Attention and motivation issues that affect your self-worth and sense of agency
Painful self-criticism and perfectionism that keeps you feeling paralyzed
Concern about causing distress to others to the point that it interferes with interactions and interpersonal connection
Stress, overwhelm, and burnout at work or school
It’s possible for you to feel differently and reclaim your sense of self. Read on to learn more about how psychotherapy can help.
What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a unique process - it provides you with a space that is your own where you can discuss your values, needs, concerns, and goals with an unbiased, accepting, and trained professional. During the psychotherapy process, you will explore your current situation, grow in your understanding of yourself and your actions, recognize patterns of thought, emotion, and behavior, and learn to relate to yourself and the world in a more fulfilling and healthy way. There are a multitude of approaches to psychotherapy treatment, and research shows that all approaches are effective when the relationship between therapist and client includes collaboration, warmth, respect, trust, and genuineness. To create lasting change, therapy also requires that the client is invested in their growth process and willing to put in the work in and outside of session. When you are committed to your own growth and you are working with an invested, collaborative, and skilled therapist, you can experience significant changes in your life and well-being.
In our work together, I will support you in your growth process, help you gain clarity about your life, introduce education and strategies when appropriate, and compassionately challenge you when your behaviors are not aligned with your values or life goals. I also strongly believe that I am here to reflect your strengths back to you and help you see your own growth throughout the process. This can be one of the most difficult things to see in ourselves, but I believe you have many more strengths than shortcomings. Our job together will be to make space for your pain while identifying your strengths so you can use them to develop a more joyful, authentic, and fulfilling life.
